Intention underlies everything we do. Think of anything you
have ever accomplished in your life. You will find that you had intended it
first before you realized it. Intention always precedes result. It is said
that, when you change the way you look at things, they also change. If you
change your world view the world also changes.
Does that mean that there is no reality?
No.
Reality always exists but we perceive it the way we want. Your reality may not
be my reality. For example, at times of crisis there are those who see only
problems and there are others who see opportunities. The difference is not
reality because the two realities exist. Rather, intention or your view
determines what you see and get.
This
brings us to the most important question. Why do some people succeed and others
fail? The answer is to be found first and foremost in their intention.
Other factors like strategy, simplicity and action are also important.
Intention however comes first and precedes the other factors.
What kind of intention achieves super results?
The
quality of your intention determines the quality of your results. If you
intention is hazy then the results will be inferior in quality. To get great
results your intention must clear. You must be clear in your vision. Without a
clear intention you grope in darkness.
The
universe has everything we need. To get it we must ask for it. It is said that
the universe give each and everyone what they request. Focus is a product of
our thought or intention. When your thoughts are full of fear, your focus is on
things that make you fear. You may focus on your inadequacies, weaknesses, and
others superiority. But when you are confident, you focus on your strength,
advantages, superiority and competitiveness. You tend to ask questions that
increase and support your progress, improvement and achievement.
Definition of Intention
A
working definition for intention is: “to have in mind a purpose or plan,
to direct the mind, to aim.” Lacking intention, we sometimes stray without
meaning or direction. But with it, all the forces of the universe can align to
make even the most impossible, possible. My intention is to transform the
conversation around dreams from fear and doubt, to hope and possibility,
followed by action and results.
Wayner
Dyer in The Power of Intention says that, intention has a connotation of nobody
is going to get on the way. I intend for something to happen. I goanna make
this happen no matter what. Regardless of whatever opposition I encounter, I
intent to make it happen. That is what intention is.
When should you set an intention?
You
could set an intention every day. Your intention could be to work less and make
more, or to find a new career that you are passionate about. It could be to get
healthy and physically fit, or to spend more quality time with loved ones or
alone. It can be specific and about something in particular or more like a
quality, such as to be more relaxed or involved with life.
People
set intentions on all kinds of dreams; to get married or have children, to get
a job or make a career change, to write a book, lose weight, or move to a
foreign country. When you set an intention and then act on it to demonstrate
your commitment, amazing things occur. Intention can also give us fortitude for
dealing with tough times.
